Voting Information

Voting: Residents may register to vote during the town clerk’s regular hours. Proof of residency is required. If you have not been able to register to vote with the clerk you may register and vote on election day by bringing your proof of residency.

Absentee Ballots: In order to apply for an absentee ballot you are required to sign an affidavit certifying that you (1) will be absent from the town where you are registered to vote; or (2) cannot appear in public because of observance of a religious commitment; or (3) are unable to vote in person by reason of a physical disability.
If you do not meet at least one of these requirements, you need to vote in person. Please fill out the attached form and mail it to:Sam Papps, Town Clerk PO Box 500 Canterbury, NH 03224 

***Application to change affilitation: Pursuant to Emergency Order #43, the requirement for voters to change party affiliation for the 2020 State Primary in September in person has been waived. The form on this page, “Application to Change Party Affiliation”, will be completed by the voter, signed and dated, witnessed, and returned to the Town Clerk. This must be turned in to the Clerk by 5 p.m. on June 2nd, 2020. Please carefully read the instructions below:

Review the attached form. Please print and fill it out, or use the PDF, type out the form, and print it.

Sign and date the form in front of a witness, and then have the witness sign the form.

Return the form to Samuel Papps Town Clerk, PO Box 500, Canterbury, NH 03224, or drop it in the drop box at the Sam Lake House, 10 Hackleboro Road. Please note the deadline to deliver the form is June 2, 2020 by 5 p.m.
