The Advisory Committee on Town Administration has been meeting to examine Canterbury’s administrative needs. The Committee is examining the following seven questions posed by the Selectmen for a final report due by December 10, 2006:
Committee Charge
1. Review minutes of the March 2006 Town Meeting discussion regarding the proposed town administrator position.
2. Review the MRI report on the Town government and the Police Department.
3. Interview or obtain input from all residents that have served as Selectmen since 2000.
4. Review the management structure of other towns in NH comparable to Canterbury.
5. Assess the effectiveness of the various administrative alternatives currently in use in other towns.
6. Identify the budgeted cost of town administration in the case study towns and compare to Canterbury.
7. Complete a risk/reward analysis for each option, including the option of doing nothing.
8. Report on items 1 through 6.
9. Develop a recommendation for the Selectmen to include:
a. Job descriptions for any contemplated positions
b. Cost estimates
c. Implementation schedule
10. Report to the Selectmen no later than December 10, 2006.
Approved minutes of the Committee’s work, including members and sub-committees will be posted after each meeting. A public forum to discuss the Committee’s findings will be held in the future, but feel free to contact any member with questions you may have in the interim.
